Since the mid-1970s, Acme Brick Company has been communicating directly with homebuyers
through magazine, radio and television advertising. In recent years, Acme Brick has added
another dimension to its public-awareness activities: the "Official Brick" program.
This program had its genesis in the late 1980s, when Acme partnered with the Dallas Mavericks to
distribute "Shoot an Acme Brick" placards to fans sitting behind
each goal. When an opponent stepped up to the free-throw line, out came the signs.
A few years later, in a marketing conversation with the Dallas Cowboys, someone said,
"What if Acme Brick was the official brick?" The deal made headlines. Acme Brick was
written up in newspapers across the country, as well as in the sports comic strip
"Tank McNamara."
Today Acme is the official brick of five different pro teams. Acme Brick also forms the
exterior of Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers.
